Minister Jill Dunlop and MPP Tom Rakocevic Make Visits to ADERSIM
This past month, Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, as well as MPP Tom Rakocevic, visited the Keel campus for separate tours of York's world leading Advanced Disaster, Emergency and Rapid Response Simulation facility (ADERSIM). York is currently the only university in Canada to offer both undergraduate and graduate programs in Disaster and Emergency Management and carries out sector-leading research in this crucial area. Both Minister Dunlop and MPP Rakocevic were provided demonstrations of the research activity taking place at the lab, which included autonomous vehicles, flood resilience, disease modelling and disaster management at airports.

Minister of Health Announcement at the School of Nursing
Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones joined us at the Keele Campus to announce $4.2 million from the Government of Ontario to expand nursing education across the province. These investments will improve access to care by ensuring more nurses are trained and ready to work in communities across Ontario. Through this funding, York will receive $0.5M to support the development and implementation of an accelerated nursing program beginning in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years. Learn more here.
